Unlocking Rigor: Practical Applications of Webb's Depth of Knowledge (DOK)

This session introduces Webb’s Depth of Knowledge (DOK) as a tool for understanding and evaluating cognitive complexity in educational materials. Participants explore the distinction between difficulty and complexity, clarify common misconceptions about DOK, and examine its application to teaching and learning within a coherent education system.

Through analysis and practice, participants consider implications for curriculum, assessment, and instructional decision-making. The session equips participants to integrate DOK into their teaching practices.

After this workshop, participants will be able to:

-Differentiate DOK levels, addressing common misconceptions.
-Use DOK as a common language to promote coherence in educational contexts.
-Apply the DOK framework to curriculum, instruction, and assessment contexts.
