Overview

This workshop equips educators with practical strategies to support newcomers in academic classrooms.

Participants will:

  • Explore elements of effective scaffolding
  • Learn to make grade-level content accessible
  • Develop tailored language supports
  • Leverage students’ strengths, interests and preferences

Through collaborative activities and real-world scenarios, participants will design scaffolded lessons that integrate content and language learning while fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for newcomer

  • July 22 & 29: 1:00-4:30 pm CT
  • Participants can earn one graduate credit by participating in two 3.5-hour webinars (7 hours total), 7 hours of independent work, and 1 hour of follow-up.
  • With Credit: $450
  • Without Credit: $400
