Virtual Workshop Description
This workshop equips educators with practical strategies to support newcomers in academic classrooms.
Participants will:
- Explore elements of effective scaffolding
- Learn to make grade-level content accessible
- Develop tailored language supports
- Leverage students’ strengths, interests and preferences
Through collaborative activities and real-world scenarios, participants will design scaffolded lessons that integrate content and language learning while fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for newcomers.

Session 2 April 29 8:30-12:00 pm CT - OPTION 2:
Session 1 April 22 4:30-8:00 pm CT
Session 2 April 29 4:30-8:00 pm CT - Participants can earn one graduate credit by participating in two 3.5-hour webinars (7 hours total), 7 hours of independent work, and 1 hour of follow-up.
