Overview:
This session is based on the book Catching the Moving Target: Guiding Newcomers to Mastery and offers compelling and practical steps for educators, leaders and decision-makers seeking to redesign how schools welcome and support newcomer multilingual learners. The comprehensive and customizable model combines research-informed, practice-proven approaches to both cognitive development and second language acquisition. After experiencing this session, participants will be prepared to go beyond compliance to create intentional, mastery-based learning opportunities that nurture language development, academic growth and emotional well-being from day one.
