This interactive professional development session empowers educators to better support adult multilingual (ML) learners by fostering classroom environments that are community-driven, asset-based, and functionally focused on language development. Participants will explore adult learning principles, reconsider the role of technology, and apply instructional strategies that tap into learners’ individual, familial, and social capital. The session also includes time for personal reflection and collaborative planning aligned to real-world classroom contexts.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

• Describe foundational adult learning principles and their application in multilingual classrooms.
• Identify and integrate learners’ individual, social, and familial assets into instruction.
• Apply a functional approach to language development in content-area teaching.
• Rethink technology integration to support ML engagement and autonomy.
